HYPERBOLES:
This hyperbole deck includes:
- 39 task cards (3 hyperbole instructional pages and 36 hyperbole task card activities)
- Task cards 4-15 are multiple-choice questions where your students will choose the hyperbole.
- Task cards 16-27 are questions where your students will choose the word or phrase that show exaggeration in the hyperboles.
- Task cards 28-39 are multiple-choice questions where your students will choose the meaning of each hyperbole.
SIMILES AND METAPHORS:
This simile and metaphor deck includes: 44 task cards (8 similes and metaphor instructional pages and 36 simile and metaphor task cards with a variety of questions). The tasks for each card type are as follows:
- The first 8 instructional pages include the definitions of similes and metaphors and how to determine the difference. It also includes a list of many common similes and metaphors.
- Task cards 9-20 are multiple-choice answers that have your students find similes and metaphors from a list of choices.
- Task cards 21- 32 are multiple-choice answers, where your students will choose whether a statement is a metaphor, simile or neither.
- Task cards 33- 44 are multiple-choice as well, but they have your students pick a choice that best describes the meaning of each simile.
ALLITERATION:
This alliteration deck includes:
- 24 task cards (4 alliteration instructional pages and 20 alliteration task card activities)
- Task cards 5-14 help teach your students how alliterations are made, by repeatedly having them identify the letter or sounds in the phrase that makes it an alliteration.
- Task cards 15- 18 are multiple-choices questions, where your students will choose the list of words that are adjectives AND alliterations.
- Task cards 19-24 are drag and drop questions where your students will choose a noun and a verb that will start an alliterative sentence.
IDIOMS:
The idiom deck includes: 41 task cards (5 idiom instructional pages with examples and 36 idioms task cards with a variety of questions) with the following tasks for each set of cards:
- Task cards 6-29 are multiple-choice and have your students match a definition to an idiom.
- Task cards 30-41 are drag and drop answers, where your students will choose a word or phrase that completes the idiom.
PROVERBS AND ADAGES:
These proverbs and adages figurative language task cards for 3rd-6th grade students are perfect for teachers who need task cards with sample proverbs and their meanings.
This proverbs and adages deck includes:
- 30 task cards (6 proverbs and adages instructional pages and 24 proverbs and adages multiple choice questions)
- Task cards 7-18 are multiple-choice questions that have scenarios that require your students to choose the meaning of a proverb or adage.
- Task cards 18- 30 are multiple-choices questions, where your students will choose the proverb or adage that you should say in a certain situation.
Please note that, as per the common core standards, these task cards do NOT focus on the difference between proverbs and adages, but instead on the contextual meaning of proverbs and adages.
PERSONIFICATION:
This personification deck includes 60 task cards (5 personification instructional pages and 54 personification task cards with a variety of questions) with the following tasks for each set of cards:
- Task cards 7-42 have your students first identify the object being personified in the sentence. Then they have to choose the word that is personifying that object.
- Task cards 43-52 are multiple-choice answers that have your students figure out the meaning of the personified sentence.
- Task cards 53-60 are drag and drop answers, where your students will choose a trait, quality or action that best personifies the sentence.
ONOMATOPOEIA:
This onomatopoeia deck includes:
- 34 task cards (2 onomatopoeia instructional pages and 32 onomatopoeia task cards with a variety of questions)
- Task cards 3-18 your students will first tap the onomatopoeia and then they will choose from multiple-choice answers, what was making that sound in each statement.
- Task cards 19- 26 are multiple-choice answers, where your students will choose the onomatopoeia word that should go with the action happening.
- Task cards 27- 34 are drag and drop questions where your students will drag and drop the best onomatopoeia into each statement.
PUNS:
This puns deck includes:
- 52 task cards (4 instructional pages for puns and 48 puns task cards with a variety of questions).
- The first 4 instructional task cards include the definitions of puns and a few examples of common puns.
- Task cards 5-40 are questions where your students must first find the word(s) in the sentence that make it a pun. Then they must use that same sentence and write the other word that could take the puns place. There are “hints” at the bottom to help your students get them correct.
- Task cards 41- 52 are multiple-choice questions where your students will have to select the two meanings of each of the puns.
